I know of at least one Mac model that did not support the --samplers modifier, and would return "unable to get smc values". It was a Macmini5,1 or 5,2 though. That anecdote suggests it may not be supported in all models.
The M1 Macs don't support certain powermetrics values also.

yes it works but the same message at the beginning "unable to get smc values."
i do also reset of the smc , but it does nothing , y check the hardware test alors nothing wrong
i use powermetrics alone without modifiers it gives the same response , on macbook pro 2012
