Data in Pages can be sorted if that data is placed in a Table.

The sort can be ascending or descending.

The sort is of the Table. and is determined by the values (text, numbers, date and time values, durations) in one of the columns of the table.

Pages on which data is arranged in columns in the body text does not qualify as a 'Table,' and cannot be sorted as it it were a Table.

With data listed in a Table, use these instructions from the Pages User Guide:

Alphabetize or sort table data

  1. Click anywhere in the table, then move the pointer over the letter above the column by which you want to sort.
  2. Click the arrow that appears next to the column letter, then choose a sorting option:
    • Sort Ascending: Sort the data in alphabetical order (A to Z) or by increasing numerical values.
    • Sort Descending: Sort the data in reverse–alphabetical order (Z to A) or by decreasing numerical values.

For more information, open the Help menu in Pages, click Pagers Help to open the User guide.

Click the magnifier to open a search box, and enter "sort"
