OSmac Monterey Contacts sorted under first name not correct.

Just updated operating system from Mojave. Contacts sorted under first name. But names like Aaron appear after Ashley. Why and how to fix? Sorted correctly on my phone. iMac pro macOS Monterey 12.3. iPhone 7 Plus 15.3.1

iMac Pro, macOS 12.3

Hey markweitzman,

Are you sorting your Contacts by first or last name? You can find more information on that here: Change how contacts are sorted in Contacts on Mac

Which account are you using as your default account for Contacts? This article explains how to check: Change General preferences in Contacts on Mac

Thanks!

I accidentally hit solved - the problem is not solved. The only thing I can think of is maybe this tip on how to change how contacts are sorted link you cited above. But I have never activated this option nor know how I would do it, but it seems the operating system is maybe doing it automatically for the name Aaron. See image below:

To help rule out possible startup software conflicts, go ahead and boot your Mac in safe mode, then test to see if you run into the same issues.

To start in safe mode:

"Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
  2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window."
