How to delete a selected group of emails all at once but not all of them?

I've selected a large group of emails (all chronilogical) that I want to delete, but the newer emails from that group I don't want to delete, how can I do that?

Make sure the emails are sorted by date, which is set at the top of the mailbox. If the newer emails are then all at the top the mailbox, select the first email below the newer emails, then while holding down the shift key, select the last email you want to delete. Then hit the delete key.
