need help installing new software to log into safari
I want to update my software as im on OS X El Capitan and when i try to update it says there is no updates needed

That is because there have not been an updates to El Capitan in year.
Nor should the user expect there to an updates to El Capitan as it is not longer supported for any more updates.
UpGrade as in moving from El Capitan to a newer version of macOS is a different matter.

Notation - Mojave is the Last version to support 32 bit applications / extensions and Drivers. Catalina, Big Sur & Monterey supports only 64 bit and there is no workaround.
Suggest using Go64 to find 32 bit application before attempting the upGrade. Some or many of the Application already installed may required update or upGrades to 64 Bit Versions.
