Ringer iPhone 12 mini

The ringer turns itself off. I haven’t found any suitable reason or solution going back years. Does anyone have a reason/solution?

Thanks

Hi neale128,

It sounds like you need help with the ringer not working correctly on your iPhone and we can help.

Is your iPhone vibrating only for alerts? Make sure the switch on the side of your iPhone is pulled toward the screen as detailed here:How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode

Another reason your iPhone might not be ringing is due to Do Not Disturb options:Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Let us know if you still need help after checking these options.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Hi neale128,

If you'd like the Ring/Silent switch on your iPhone to work, these steps might help.

If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad, here are a few steps that might fix the issue. If they don't, you'll need to set up a repair.

1. Remove any protective films or cases that might block the button or switch.2. Check for debris or dirt around the button or switch and clean with a soft cloth.3. If the button or switch still isn't working, is damaged, or works intermittently, you can set up a repair.

The information above is from If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad. This link also has extra links if you should need to set up a repair. If you need help with the repair, you can also Get Support here. Lastly, if you need further advice on how to clean your iPhone (step 2 above), that information is in Cleaning your iPhone.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!

Hi neale128,

To help with troubleshooting this with you, we need more information.

  • When this happens, what do you do to get the ringer working again?
  • Do you have to move the Ring/Silent switch?
  • Do you have to go into settings and change anything? If so, where do you go and what are you changing?
  • Do you have to restart your iPhone?

We look forward to hearing back from you!
