If you'd like the Ring/Silent switch on your iPhone to work, these steps might help. 

If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad, here are a few steps that might fix the issue. If they don't, you'll need to set up a repair.

1. Remove any protective films or cases that might block the button or switch.2. Check for debris or dirt around the button or switch and clean with a soft cloth.3. If the button or switch still isn't working, is damaged, or works intermittently, you can set up a repair.

To help with troubleshooting this with you, we need more information.

• When this happens, what do you do to get the ringer working again?
• Do you have to move the Ring/Silent switch?
• Do you have to go into settings and change anything? If so, where do you go and what are you changing?
• Do you have to restart your iPhone?

The physical switch does not magically turn itself off... not unless it's broken.

Either something is coming into physical contact with the switch and moving it to the silent position, or the switch is going bad.
