Do I need to update my new iPhone 11 Pro Max?

I keep seeing people commenting on some kind of Update.
But, My IPhone11 ProMax is only 3 months old!
Do I NEED to do this ?? … To?
The updated iOS versions fix any bugs and security issues. It is recommended that you update your phone so that you have the latest software available.
