Why does my iPhone 13 add an mov. file for every picture I take?

I've seen posts with similar but not the exact same problems, so here's what's going on.

First, Live Photo is not on, at least when I last checked, but there are times that for every photo I take, I also get an mov. file and occasionally I get an AAE file as well. Doesn't happen all the time, just mostly.

Second, when I open the Photo app, there are multiple copies of all my photos, some have a single duplicate and others have TWO, this goes for video files as well.

Third, when I try to transfer photos to my PC I found that the iPhone has MULTIPLE FILES for photos taken on a single day, so if the file should be 2021603 for example, it will create 2021603_, 2021603a, 2021603b, 2021603c, and so on up to 10 files or more (and not because I took a lot of pics, sometimes it's no more than 4 or 5) and BIZARRELY each file will SOMETIMES have the exact same photos OR some photos will only show up in some files and not in others!

Fourth, some of these files are corrupted and won't open AND I'm unable to delete them from the phone as it keeps giving me error messages. This also keeps me from deleting the file itself, even though the properties show it empty. There are other problems too, like having to transfer each photo within a file INDIVIDUALLY because it doesn't want to transfer an entire file (stops or eventually gives me an error saying the phones disconnected). Sometimes I can copy a half dozen or more by holding the shift key and highlighting them and then cutting and pasting, smh.

This acts so buggy that I'm wondering if the app is corrupted or has a virus, or is it possibly a problem with the phone itself? Any help is appreciated ;?)

Where is Live turned off? You may want to check the Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings.

If you turn off Live in the Camera, it will only be preserved, if Live is "On" in " Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings" - it is a bit confusing. (Save camera settings on iPhone – Apple Support (UK))

If you turn on Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings > Live Photos" and then disable Live in the Camera, the next photos will not be taken in Live mode, otherwise you will get pairs of still frames, a video clip, and occasionally an AAE file with the filter or Live Effect or a cropping.

You will also automatically take quick take videos instead of photos, if you hold the finger on the shutter button. Record videos with your iPhone camera - Apple Support
