Auto pause on 6 watch

I know I can turn off auto pause on running, whenever I’m lifting weights my watch auto pauses. I know tattoos affect the watch. My question is why? Harmon and other manufacturer’s manage just fine and I’m getting fed up with the expensive Apple failing on me.
