My Apple TV occasionally loses the HDMI handshake to my tv and drops out displaying a black screen for 5-10 seconds. I have an LGC9 and purchased new 4k compliant HDMI cables to ensure the cable was not the issue. My Apple TV is connected direct to my TV without a receiver.
Has anyone else has this issue, and how did you correct it?

Do any errors appear before the issue occurs? If so, what does the error say? That information can help us get a better understanding of the issue.
When the issue happens, does restarting your Apple TV help? Restart Apple TV
Restart Apple TV
Do any of the following:
• Press and hold both the Back(second-generation Siri Remote) or
(first-generation Siri Remote) and TV
buttons on the Siri Remote until the Apple TV status light blinks rapidly.
• Disconnect Apple TV from the power outlet, wait five seconds, then reconnect it.
• Open Settingson Apple TV, go to System and select Restart.
