I’ve returned from 5 months and cannot log into my iMac.

It asked for Apple ID and I successfully changed it. New password and all; so I get as far as a screen that invites me to choose a new password; did that, and the change password window goes active but when I enter it my computer still won’t open??

any suggestions?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

Cannot sign into iMac For some reason, settings have changed and I cannot sign into my computer. There is also a text box on the bottom left in which I have no idea where it came from. When typing in the password I’ve used (with minor alterations) for the past 10 years, it says it is incorrect. No idea why. anyway, as I enter in every version of the password I’ve ever used, it provides an option to utilize my Apple ID to change the password. Great right? Easy solution! Not really. After I do this, it takes me back to the login screen. Nothing happens. I still can’t login to use my own computer. Please somebody tell me I’m just special and or getting old.

My iMac won't accept my Apple ID password I bought a MAC home computer from around 2015. I really have never used it and a prompt screen keeps popping up asking me for my apple ID password which I type in the correct one and it is not accepting it. So now, I can't get into my administration for info to update my computer.. What can I do? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

New Mac wont let me log in Just came home with my new MacBook Pro. Migrated contents from old air over. At restart it won’t take my password whim I’m POSITIVE is correct-even the hint matches up. I elected to to change my password using my Apple ID-it won’t accept my Apple ID. Changed my Apple ID and it STILL won’t let me in
