Why can't I use Sidecar when the Apple IDs are different?

I can't use my wife's iPad (in my Family share) with Sidecar after "upgrading" to Monterey. Is this a bug or does Apple now disallow family members to share devices?

Hope it's a bug, because it's so messed up if this is some new policy.

(Worked fine in Catalina)

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.3

This is a user to user only forum. I'm not aware it was possible to use Sidecar between two apple ID's even with Family Sharing.
