iPhone 11 won't connect to AUX anymore

I have a Hyundai Tucson and in order to play my phone, I've had to connect it to a splitter (not sure if that's the right word) that connects to both the AUX and the USB/charging port (so 3 chords involved total). I've done that for a couple of years with no problem.

Recently my phone stopped connecting to the AUX but continued to connect to the USB port. I tried replacing all 3 chords involved but it still does not connect. I'm trying to update my phone now but is there something else that could be causing this?
