HomePod mini

Good day,

Just wondering do you need a Apple Music subscription to use your accessories in your HomeKit remotely?

For Apple's HomeKit Product Marketing leader, here's yet another example of why the goal of selling Apple Music subscriptions may be a wee bit too manifested throughout your product!

Here's my pet-peeve along the same lines: To play the local NPR station on my HomePods, I can say "Hey Siri, play K-Q-E-D radio on Apple Music" (I must specify "Apple Music" because Pandora is setup as my default media service). This rather verbose Siri command works reliably while invoking a rather verbose acknowledgement from Siri before the station begins playing (courtesy of TuneIn radio's deal with Apple Music). I wish to create a Scene that would allow me say "Hey Siri, N-P-R". The Scene includes my stereo pair of HomePod minis and I attempt to specify my "media selection":

...but I can't select any media because I don't currently have an active Apple Music subscription... Oh well. I wish I could select Apple Music offerings available for non-subscribers or items in my local & persistently-accessible personal library (not to mention Pandora media selections that I do subscribe to :-). Oh well. I've already submitted feedback about this and I'll now go back to waiting patiently :-).
