My phone glitched and blasted through the speaker, damaging my ear (but the speaker icon showed it was off)

I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else... 3-4 weeks ago a call came in and when I put it to my ear the audio blasted incredibly loudly into it. I almost dropped my phone it was so loud and painful, and when I pulled the phone away away the audio was still coming from the speaker but the speaker icon wasn't highlighted like it normally would be when the speaker was on. I found a similar thread where a person said their cheek had activated the speaker, and though perhaps that's what happened I suspect it's a software glitch since the speaker icon was off.

I've had tinnitus since then in my left ear and am hoping it clears up (I'm seeing an audiologist this week). I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and keep my software up-to-date.

Report this to Apple:

No. I have not come across this before. So, report this to Apple by providing them with feedback on this. If you installed an update, then it may have been a glitch in it not completing successfully. So, perform the following.

Do your Part: Let them know that you want to see an annual report of Screen Time. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more they hear of this, the more they will know what issues are occurring, and what fixes to include in updates to come.

Select: "Bug Report" for the "FeedbackType"
Comment: on when you came across this, and how you have troubleshot this this far.
Proceed from there as necessary
