What model? Typically you would use iTunes to manage the device, or Music and Finder if you have macOS Catalina or later. On some models of iPod classic you can create an On-the-go playlist which you can add to on the device.

iPod shuffle playlist Hi, I have this old iPod shuffle 3rd generation and I wanted to use it again for gym sessions since I don't want to carry my phone with me.
