Microsoft Exchange password issue

I am a senior citizen with an iPad Air 3 who is reasonably able to maneuver through technical issues but far from tech savvy. I am having a Pop-Up when I try to get my emails asking for an Exchange Password. Shaw is our server and they say that this is a Microsoft Outlook issue. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks

Hey Opalbee,

If you're unable to receive your email, we'd recommend confirming with Shaw which type of server settings they use. The two most common are POP and IMAP. The main difference between the two being where your emails are stored.

POP stores emails on your devices themselves, whereas IMAP keeps them stored on the server. If your account is an IMAP, we'd recommend removing the email from Settings > Mail > Accounts, and add it back.

Only do this if you're able to confirm your account is an IMAP account, as your messages won't be deleted. Whereas with a POP account, you do run the risk of data loss.

If you're still unable to get mail or cannot add the account back with the same error and Shaw directs you to Microsoft, we'd recommend contacting Microsoft for additional assistance. Your iPad merely authenticates with the server to sync your mail, if there's an issue in that process, it'd be up to your mail provider to resolve it.

Cheers!
