How on earth do you password-protect an external SSD now? -- the options do not come up in Extended (Journaled) and APFS fails every time to unmount! [It used to be trivial, but there are no longer the same options].

Thanks. Reformatting the whole drive in APFS and then partitioning DID work. I am sure I used to PW-protect using Extended formatting, but perhaps this is no longer possible or advisable. Anyway, all solved now, thank you!!
