Can't right click to rename a file in macOS High Sierra?

Answering this question because I figured it out and saw a post from 2018 that never received a proper answer and over 150 people said they had the same question. I wasn't able to reply to the 2018 post because it was too old, so here's the solution...

Answer: You have to make the double click speed slightly faster to get a right click rename function. However don't make the speed too fast or else you might loose capabilities to open files with a mouse double right click (works on track pad though)...that's what happened to me. Find a happy medium that enables both of these functions by playing around with the double-click speed.

Instructions:

Go to Settings>Accessibility>Mouse & Trackpad>Adjust Double Click Speed

Can't click to rename a file in OS High Sierra?

Why does simply clicking (or right clicking) a file to rename a file not always work on my new macbook pro (2017) with OS High Sierra (10.13.6)? There are so many issues with the new OS and with the stupid magic mouse — functionality which I've disabled and stopped using, BTW. I've been a Mac user all my life, and I'm nearly 40. Dear Developers: There was nothing broken with the simplicity of clicking to rename, so why change it? — not broke, don't fix it. My High Sierra experience has been nothing but high so far. Its so frustrating to try and navigate simple daily tasks in your workflow only to be slowed down.
