icons moved on screen with update

last night update on my iMac ( OS is Monterey something) arbitrarily moved my icons from the top of my screen to the right of same. I want to bring them back to the top. what gives ??( I do hate that kind of updates)

Right click on desktop
Click on Sort by
Check [tick] None
Drag your icons to where ever you want.
