Backspace only delete one letter at my iPad keyboard

Hi, every time I press backspace and I want to delete more then one letter, I hold the button for a longer time, as I would usually do.

But my iPad keyboard only delete one letter at a time.

Can anyone help me?

delete key Please bring back the delete key! Years ago on a much earlier version of iOS for iPhone and iPad there used to both a backspace and a delete key. It was probably removed in preference for other keys. But in terms of efficiency, it is much less efficient and more time consuming to have to hold down the space bar to highlight and then backspace. For example, sometimes I’m just replacing a lower case letter with a capital letter at the beginning of a word. The cursor placement default is always at the beginning of a word not the first letter. So I have to type the capital, hold the space key to move the cursor over and then backspace rather than pressing delete like I would on my laptop. By the way there’s the same problem on my MacBook Air and there plenty of real estate for both delete and backspace keys there. it seems this could be fixed by removing one of the.?123 keys, renaming the “delete” key to a backspace arrow, and adding a new “delete” key. In the iPhone maybe there could be an option to repurpose the emoji key, kind of like pushing the space bar to switch between English or Spanish keyboards. Are there any plans to fix or improve this to make it more user friendly and efficient? Time is a premium and every extra tap or keystroke adds up.. Like right now, I want to delete this question mark but instead of just one keystroke, I have to press and hold, then move the cursor - three times the effort as just using a delete key.?

Backspace/delete key If I want to backspac multiple letters, normally you can hold the backspace key, and then all letters will disappear until you release this key. Now only the last letter disappears, until I press the button again. If I keep holding the backspace key, only the last letter disappears. Anyone ideas/tips?

Ghost delete/backspace button On any typing, the delete button goes crazy without me touching it. I have an IPad Pro with Ipad os. It does it with both the bluetooth keyboard and the on screen keyboard. It nearly renders my Ipad useless. I believe it is a software issue. I have reset the ipad several times< but the problem persists over several days.

Was anything updated or changed when this started occurring? What app are you noticing this on?

If you have recently added a keyboard, try removing it to help isolate the problem:

Remove a keyboard: Tap Edit, tap next to the keyboard you want to remove, tap Delete, then tap Done.
