Settings, your name, iCloud

is iCloud Photos turned on?
is there plenty of space in your iCloud storage plan?

If yes to both questions then your photos are in iCloud with a copy on the phone.

Set up iCloud Photos on all your devices – Apple Support (UK)

You can sign into iCloud.com on a computer or ipad and look what photos are there.
