Data usage

So I have an unlimited data phone with a hotspot of 40 gb my question is if I want to stream a movie which will use less data I don’t have WiFi so I have to use my hotspot even to AirPlay so which way will use less using my hotspot to stream directly on a Roku or having the Roku connect to my hotspot and airplay through my phone

Airplay data usage I have a mobile cellular router at my cottage with limited data. i also have a smart tv with Apple TV. if I AirPlay video that is stored on my phone to the tv, will it use any of my data?
