password in Internet Accounts

The message flashes "Enter your password for "123xyz"in Internet Accounts. I click 'Continue' and a blank screen pops up with a revolving circle and the word 'Cancel' in complete type and 'Continue' in greyed out type. The circle continues to rotate and rotte and rotate and rotate. So finally I cancel it. What's going wrong? And thanks for your help.
