Is there a way to upgrade my macOS from Sierra to a newer version on my old MacBook Air?
MacBook Air
If its running Sierra, it can at least update to High Sierra (same requirements).
Beyond that depending on the exact model / year of MacBook Air that you have will be what you can update to.
See the following support document to get older versions of MacOS and there requirements: link-> How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support
