I bought it brand new but it has the model number 3J

The model number starting with “3J” would indicate it has been refurbished by an Apple authorized contractor. Where was the phone purchased? Is the dealership an authorized Apple retailer?

Turns out it was some part of a scam with an unauthorized boost store. I got my money back and bought one new from cricket.
