How come my MacBook Air is not supported?
This prevents me connecting with my iPhone. It's a new problem after the Monterey update.

I used to be able to take pics with my iPhone and Select and click the Upload icon, click the Airdrop icon and under Devices click the MacBook Air and wait a minute and the photos would be downloaded to my MacBook Air. This doesn't happen now with the so-called Update.

Check the settings for AirDrop on both devices to determine that you have them setup to receive photos. I have a 2019 MacBook Air with Monterey 12.3.1 and an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 15.4.1, and I have not experienced any problem with AirDrop. Have you tried AirDropping from the MBA to the iPhone? Next step would be to power cycle both devices after you have verified AirDrop settings.
I thought that Power Cycles were about battery life. I don't know how to do that or why in this case. I'd be interested to learn.
It's never been possible to connect a Mac to an iPhone directly over bluetooth. The is not new.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Most things that require bluetooth, do not need the Mac and iPhone to be directly paired / connected. Just for bluetooth to be turned on.
Airdrop does not nor has it ever required the devices be directly connected or paired. Just that bluetooth be turned on.
The update has not changed anything regarding Airdrop. If the Mac is not showing up in your iPhone, on your Mac open the Finder, click on AirDrop on the side panel, and make sure the "Allow me to be discovered by" option at the bottom of the screen is set to Contacts or Everyone and not "No One".
Here's the screenshot of the sidebar, if I have found the right thing. I can't see the "allow me to be discovered by" option.
Its not in the preferences panel. Its in the main Airdrop section in Finder:
Chris means restart the MBP, and restart the iPhone.
I never said where it was (or wasn’t) 😏

Sorry, did not mean to respond to you, but to Ewan.
