iwatch 7 iphone 11 ios 15.4.1 Custom memoji watchface keep resetting back to Unicorn

1) On iwatch 7, with memoji app, I have the memoji created, swapped down and make it the watch face.


2) On iphone watch app, I can see a "blank" memoji watch face (not the one I created, not any preset ones like unicorn or giraffe, but an empty face). Anyway, the memoji watchface "works" on iwatch.


3) But after a while, the iwatch watch face becomes the preset unicorn again. On iphone watch app, I can see the unicorn now being the watch face. So I have to do Step 1 again.


and these keep repeating. What is my watch face keeping being reset to Unicorn?

Customizing your watch face is such a great part of using Apple Watch. Have you tried deleting that watch face entirely and adding it back from scratch? This article has info on how you can delete and re-add watch faces: Change the watch face on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
