Can I use a PIN number with the new apple mini instead of my fingerprint to log into my mini iPad.?

Yes. Before you register a fingerprint for TouchID, you must have first set a Passcode - which, by default, will be six digits.

Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
