How to set up a second gmail account on iPhone

I am the coordinator for a volunteer-produced holiday boutique. I have created a gmail account to allow me to keep my personal and boutique email separate. I have had no problem creating a second profile on my laptop that lets me access the holiday boutique email, but adding a second gmail account on my SE iPhone is not going well. It keeps failing the verification step telling me that I haven't entered a password for the new account...but I have. it isn't clear from the screen if I should be entering my google account or the email account password. Am I really so stupid I can't do this? (Don't answer that.)

Using Apple Mail app, being an email account, it needs the related password.

Delete that email account, restart your iphone, then re-add that email account and its password, as per the instructions provided in this support article:--> Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you're not using Apple Mail app, please ask Google Gmail support team about that.

I appreciate your response, but it has raised even more questions.

I am using the Apple Email app. However "being an email account it needs the related password" is unclear. Remember, I am trying to add a second gmail email account. The first one works perfectly. I now what a password authentication is, but as I said, I AM entering the password for the second gmail account.

To be clear: I want to retain the first gmail account. I am trying to add a second gmail account, and that is the setup that is failing. So when you write: "Delete that email account, restart your iphone, then re-add that email account and its password, as per the instructions" I don't have a "second/new" email account to delete yet because I can't get past the verification fail.
