Monterey, Mac mini and EGPU issue

My setup is a Mac mini i7 2018 with a Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 350W, a Radeon RX 580 and OS Monterey. Although I disabled FileVault, the connected EGPU seems that doesn’t communicate with my Mac. On the Displays menu there is no arrangement tab. Do I miss something?

Are you complying with this:

  • To ensure the best eGPU performance, use the Thunderbolt 3 cable that came with your eGPU or an Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable. Also make sure that the cable is connected directly to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your Mac, not daisy-chained through another Thunderbolt device or hub.

It seems that you are aware of this:

1. If you have a Mac mini (2018) with FileVault turned on, make sure to connect your primary display directly to Mac mini during startup. After you log in and see the macOS Desktop, you can unplug the display from Mac mini and connect it to your eGPU.

DId the eGPU work with an early macOS version or is this the first time you tried?

Go to About This Mac>Overview>Hardware, the the eGPU show up unders display and maybe Thunderbolt?

Thanks IIIaass for your direct reply. Let me describe further the situation and answer to your questions:

  1. The cable that I use is the one that I used to work with before the update, when I had installed Mohave. It's from Sonnet. Also the fans from the box of Sonnet work. So I don't believe that it's a matter of the cable.
  2. Because of the security settings (FileVault - Mohave OS), I had to boot the mac with the hdmi cable of the LG display plugged in the mac and afterwards in the Sonnet box.

3.Unfortunately, now the eGPU doesn't show anywhere in the hardware review (thunderbolt or displays). The only graphics card that is visible, is the internal Intel UHD 630.
