DIsable Macbook pro 2018 lid sensor?

I'm on my 3rd macbook pro 2018 and they all have the same problem—they are generally not capable of staying in OFF mode. If you turn one off and put it in a briefcase, it will turn itself back on whilst unsafely ensconced in the heat-trapping environment. It will not turn itself back off, it just sits there and overheats until you open the bag again or the battery runs out.

For these reasons, I think this is best referred to as a "self-destruct feature".

I have stopped wondering why Mac users would want such things, and I have implicitly accepted that it's not a bug—it's a feature.

But, is it a feature that can be TURNED OFF?

shut it down before transport

Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac

Off, not in sleep mode. As in, both steps of the two-step shutdown procedure have been completed, then the machine is given a comfortable amount of time to power off before I transfer it to the briefcase. It then comes back to life in the briefcase, and it's a hot slab of metal when I first touch it the next day.

I'm not aware of any hardware features that might cause your iMacs to turn themselves on (other than possibly netBIOS?) but Macbooks have a magnetic sensor in the lid that the computer uses to detect when the lid is open or shut.

This may be used for various features and diagnostics, however, the problem it is creating for me is that the lid sensor is linked to MacOS software that issues a power-on command to the laptop when the lid is opened.

This is the problem, because generally speaking, laptops need adequate ventilation to maintain safe operating temperatures, and on top of that, I don't think it's very good for the battery for the thing to be just baking itself overnight for no reason—both because of the unneeded expenditure of battery power, and because of potentially damaging impact of the heat.

So, generally not desirable, and I would like to determine whether there is a way to disable the poorly designed feature that is causing the problem. Thanks!
