Continuous Play On Purchased TV Shows

Is there an option for continuous play on TV shows purchased through iTunes? I know it is there for Apple TV original content.

I recently purchased the complete series of The Office. Whenever we watch an episode it does not automatically play the next one. If we are watching it on our Apple TV we have to go back to the main menu and scroll to find the next episode.

In essence, I am trying to get The Office to play as it did on Netflix - once one episode is over then the next one starts automatically. I would also like to be able to skip the opening credits - but I will take what I can get at this point. This is also the way their original shows like Ted Lasso operate.

Hey there,

We're a bit confused as to your question regarding auto-play, since you see it with original Apple TV original content, but don't see it at all for all other videos you play.

While this may be content-based, have you ever had the option to do this with non-apple TV original content?

As you have a compatible Apple TV model, the latest version is tvOS 15.4.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to Update your Apple TV.

Have you already tried a restart of your Apple TV? If not, this link shows How to turn off or restart your Apple TV.

Cheers!

I am not sure that I understand your response. This question is specifically with regards to shows purchased on iTunes.

When I play a show with multiple episodes from Apple TV+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc on the Apple TV the next episode automatically starts playing when the episode you are watching concludes.

When I buy a show with multiple episodes on iTunes and play it on the Apple TV, the next episode does not automatically start to play and I have to scroll through the episodes of the show to select the next episode.

The viewing experience is diminished for shows you have purchased. I am trying to determine if continuous play is available for show purchased on iTunes or if I need to make all future purchases from Amazon Prime.

Thank you,

Thanks for that workaround. It is helpful, while it does not solve the issue. I have not gotten any helpful feedback. It seems as though the Community Specialists feel that this is issue is unique to me, rather than (what is actually is) an issue all Apple TV users who own a tv series on iTunes face. I suspect that Apple is reducing usability on purpose to discourage people from buying moves and shows and keep us reliant on subscription based services.
