How to remove unwanted Apple programs from a laptop?

I need to remove the Apple programs that come with the system (Notes, Books, Garage Band, News, etc.), but can't figure how to delete them. (They don't respond like programs I have added and can uninstall). If they can't be removed, can I put them in a file and compress the whole thing)? To explain, the unit is being used in a video editing setup, and I need all the HD space I can get.

What macOS version? There may be options on newer version that are not available of older ones.

Launchpad may help you determine which can be removed and which cannot. See:

How to uninstall apps on your Mac - Apple Support

Example: Using the technique on my Mac running Mojave, Launchpad shows that Garage Band and iMovie can be removed with Launchpad but not Notes. News, or Reminders. The "x" in a circle indicates that Launchpad can delete the app:

KU4HX mentions some of those you listare small. I agree. On my iMac, Notes is only 14MB, Books is 50MB, News is 9.5MB—tiny! Those are not worth any loss of sleep!.

Only Garage Band is over a gig, at 1.45GB, and is removable with Launchpad. Launchpad makes sure to remove any related support files that go with the app, but wll leave alone any data files created with that App.

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:

You can always use an externally attached drive for additional storage.
