Can i still use my macbook after waterdamage?

2 years ago I spilled water on my macbook pro 2015. After that happened I left it upside down for a few days and then didn't dare to turn it on again because I read on the internet that it could explode. a few months ago I turned it on again and it still worked well, except for the battery no longer, it also said under battery status that battery needs maintenance. but it still works so is it still a good idea to use it? Or is it possible that the battery will explode
