Adapter for Thunderbolt to USB 3

I have a Mac Air early 2015. It has one Thunderbolt USB4 port. Not sure if they call the port a Thunderbolt 4. I want to find an adapter that will allow me to attach a USB3 thumb drive to that port for data transfer. Can anyone refer me to the correct adapter. Thank you.

The Thunderbolt2 port on your Mac can only be used with Thunderbolt devices.

Your Mac has USB3 ports, just plug it into one of those. If the thumb drive has a USB-C connector, you simply need a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Simply search Amazon for one.

Well I had a duh moment on this. You of course are correct, there are 2 USB hubs on the Air. Day dreaming this morning I realized one of them had my bluetooth, USB mouse chip inserted, I removed it and of course I can now transfer files from one USB device directly to another. I really tried to make it harder than it needed to be. I usually operate that way.

Thanks again for the feedback and leading this stubborn horse to the correct drinking hole.

Thank you for the reply. My Mac Air has only one USB 3.0 hub. I was hoping to connect another through the Thunderbolt hub to copy from one USB3. to another. Of course I have a work around by copying to the hard disk, then back to the second USB drive. But I was hoping to be able to avoid that step. I did try a hub, but it would not allow two usb devices to copy to one another.

Lets consider case close since the work around is not too burdensome.

Thank both of you for your courteous and prompt replies.
