through edit does not work on FCP 10.6.2 anyone know how?

Hi, I need to cut a video clip in 3 parts, but also need to keep it's conitnuity. Does anyone have a working tip on the FCP 10.6.2 on Big Sur? I am stuck with a project and the earlier tip from Apple:

Tip: You can also cut clips while playing back your project. To cut clips on the fly, press Command-B at any time while your project plays back.

An edit point appears as a dotted line where you clicked, and the clip is divided into two clips. The dotted line indicates a through edit, in which the media content on either side of the edit point is continuous.

Does not work on this version.

Thanks in advance.

Hola, many thanks for your quick replay. I did as you adviced, and of course it did partially work, AFTER I have selected the clip to be cut. Which is not the problem in itself. It worked samme way before doing the steps your kindly suggested.

The issue is that I need the two parts after I clip, to have the continuity stated by Apple:

"The dotted line indicates a through edit, in which the media content on either side of the edit point is continuous."

I do not get any 'dots' line, as shown on their guide. What I keep getting is two equal clips, not two separated continuous part of one video. I don't know if I am expressing me wrongly, that is why I pasted the text from Apple's Guide on Apple's site. Is it more understandable now?

Please see the attached screenshot of the part that confuses me. Do you archieve that "continuous" thing? I don't.

I am not seeing any problem with using Command-B, whether while playing back or not.

Are you saying that Command-B does not work at all? Does not work only when playing back?

Try deleting preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

Hola again, I have done a couple of tests. With the files I had used, which are created from photos, not video clips, the movement aquired via Ken Burns, and so on. There, nothing can be done. None worked as intender.

However, as soon as I used for the next text, a video born clip, EUREKA! All is giving good results.

Your guidance was key for me to start seeing the variables on the equation... And as this was first time, I am using manipulated photos as base for the montage, I forgot that this is a Movie app, not Photoshop... sorry for that.

Thanks a lot and maybe I'll knock at your door sometime in the future.

Have a good day and keep safe.
