Lost document from Macbook

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone could help..

I was working on an important document on Microsoft Word this morning, and my Mac crashed so I turned it back on, and the document disappeared. All of the other windows I was working on restarted automatically except for my document. I’ve tried various methods to recover my document, but to no avail. I can’t even find it on Time Machine.

I had auto save turned on so I thought it would have saved, but I can’t find it. Any advice to retrieve this document? Thanks

MacBook, macOS 10.14

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
