Did you add the locations manually with Photos on your iPhone?
If you download photos directly from the iPhone, only the unmodified original will be transferred. And photos does never change the originals, the locations you add are stored in the Photos Library, but the original images are left unchanged.
My Photo Stream is also transferring the originals, and Shared albums are stripping he metadata intentionally before sharing the photos.
The safest way to transfer all modifications to your photos is using iCloud Photos to sync the Photos Library between your devices. Then all your work will be updated across all devices aitomatically, titles, descriptions, locations, changed dates, faces, etc. Use iCloud Photos on iPhone - Apple Support
Even with Mail or Air Drop my iPhone will not include the locations and dates I added to a screenshots. But iCloud Photos does transfer them.

I connected the iPhone using cable to Mac and transferred the photos to the Mac using the Mac-Photo app.
After some fiddling around I restarted the Mac-Photo App and by magic the locations showed up on the Mac-Photo App.
The Location on the Phone-Photo has more details than the Mac-Photo.
I am trying to gather photos with location info from traveling friends in one album.
Sharing removes the locations, need an option to not remove location or a shared cloud would be great.
Thanks in advance

If your friend are having iPhones they could share folders on iCloud Drive directly from the Photos.app - select the photos in Photos, tap the Share button and select "Share iCloud Link". The photos in the shared folder will have the full resolution and all metadata.
What is your workflow?? Location info should copy automatically. But if have modified the image and copy it via USB (not via AirDrop or iCloud) then the original image is copied, for example.
