without iTunes on my new IMac, how can i watch movies on my apple TV? I have an external drive connected to the computer. I used to use iTunes for this. Thank you!

See What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support. You would use the TV app for this now. You can AirPlay from your computer to your Apple TV, or use the Computers app on Apple TV to access a Home Sharing library from the TV app once you’ve added your content to it.
