Safari still opens the App Store instead of the actual app

Every single time I try to press on a link to someone’s socials (like if I’m on instagram and click someone’s twitter link in their bio), it brings me to safari, which asks me if I want to open it up in the app. I press yes and I get redirected to the App Store. I looked up this issue and people had this problem in 2010!!!! TWELVE YEARS AGO AND THIS IS STILL HAPPENING? How is this still an issue?? If it says “Open In App?” and I select “Yes”, IT SHOULD BRING ME TO THE GOSH DARN APP! NOT SAFARI, AND THEN THE APP STORE like why? How??

Salutations ryanescens,

Please confirm that whichever device you’re using is up to date -

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update macOS on Mac

Then, also be sure that whichever app is directing you to Safari, as opposed to the preferred app, is also up to date - How to manually update apps on your Apple device.

Then, next time you want to launch a link in the app, long press on the link and choose ‘Open in “app name”’ and then see if after that it happens automatically.
