I can't turn my messages back to vertical from horizontal on iphone 11
I'm in portrait mode and unlocked and my messages won't go from horizonal to vertical when I turn my phone

What messages are you referring to, the native Messages app or Facebook Messenger? You say the phone is unlocked, are you referring to the orientation lock being off? If that is the case, then power the iPhone off and back on again and see if that takes care of the issue.
