Can't join CD tracks

Question

Can't join CD tracks

I was in the process of importing an audio book into itunes. I was successful in joining the CD tracks on the first 2. After getting the CD track names for the 3rd CD I went to the "Join CD Tracks" it was not available. How do I enable this option?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Stumbled on this simple solution after reading 5 pages of this. On iTunes 10, Uncheck all songs, then simply select by highlighting the songs you wish to join by clicking once on one track you wish to join and shift/click to highlight and add adjoining tracks, or use select all edit to highlight all tracks. Check box next to 1st song in joined group. The join cd tracks option under advanced menu immediately becomes available.

Doesn't anyone know what changed that will not let me "join CD tracks"?

I just came upon this same issue. I listen to many audio books that I buy on CD. Itunes does not sell them. I was importing them onto my computer and joining the CD tracks. By the 4th one, it will not let me join the tracks. I tried a different one and still the same issue. I am using itunes 10 and having other issues as well. The first CD will not place it self with the first and so forth. It keeps relabeling its self!

Me too!

I've done this plenty of times before, so I understand how it wirks, but after upgrading to ver 10. it does not work.

The tracsk need to be sorted in order.
Select the first column with the numbers, then it should work.
iTunes 9 was kinda flaky sometimes when it was not sorted by the above column. (even if they were in the correct order)

But I have also tried to join tracks after import to I-Tunes to no avail.

Point being...the option is only available prior to importing. You cannot use the feature after tracks have already been imported.

I have tried to join tracks when the tracks appear just after the CD is inserted and before and after getting track names. Nothing works.

It would appear that there is not a solution the "Can't join CD tracks" issue. I experienced this in August. Now it is the middle of November and still no solution even after the new I Tunes up date and Snow Leopard update.

I just purchased another audio book and the join tracks issue still exists.

iTunes 10 on a windows 7 32 bit machine.

Clicking in the track number column seems to have fixed it for me as well. Thanks
