how do I enable journaling in disk utility? I'm trying to reinstall the OS on my son's computer. he wiped it totally but the install process says it can't install to the HD because it needs to be formatted for Journaling? How do I do that?

What macOS are you trying to install?
HFS+ has been replaced with the new APFS
File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple ...
