iMessages aren't syncing

Hi. I have a MacBook pro, iPad pro, apple watch 7, and an iPhone 13 pro. All are updated. It seems iMessages aren't syncing, if that's the word. After I read an iMessage on any one of those devices, I still see the 1 or whatever in the top right corner of the widget on any of the other devices. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.
