How to change hidden file ATTRIBUTES to unhidden?

I have hidden files on my Mac and I want to change them back to visible. I already know how to show hidden files, but don't know how to change the actual attributes to the file itself. I have over two hundred files and about 150 of them are hidden, the other 50 are visible.

How can I change the status of these files?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

chflags nohidden /path/to/the/file/to/change

See the chflags man page

man chflags
