Apple News app crashing

The Apple news app crashes on me two maybe three times a day which is very frustrating. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it, I’ve deleted history and recommendations and nothing seems to solve the problem

Out of curiosity, which model of iPad are you using?


It may be worthwhile submitting a Bug Report to Apple using their Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple


You are unlikely to receive a personal response, but we are assured that at reports are logged and fed-back to the appropriate departments. If sufficient reports are received, that relate to a specific and repeatable issue, resources are more likely to be assigned to investigate and correct a problem. Your report might make the difference - but will, at the very least, contribute to a growing picture.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! Has your iPad been restarted since noticing this issue? If using an iPad without a home button, press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.


If using an iPad with a home button, press and hold the top button until the power off slider appears.


Drag the slider and wait about 30 seconds. Press and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears to power it back on. Once back on, test to see if this continues.


Restart your iPad - Apple Support


You can also confirm there are no updates available for your iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Updates.


Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

There appears to be a bug in Apple News that causes the App to occasionally close unexpectedly. Speaking of my own experience, this might occur after relatively long periods of scrolling through news articles. Since updating to iPadOS 15.4.1, I don’t recall seeing a recurrence.


If you’ve not already done so, try updating the most recent release.
