why won't iMovie play audio on my AirPods?

When I use my AirPods on my MacBook Pro, the audio from iMovie doesn't come through. It will play on my MacBook Pro speakers, but if I select AirPods Pro on the bluetooth tab, the iMovie audio won't play on my AirPods.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

First, go to Apple Logo > System Preferences > Sound > Output and make sure that your Headphones are seletected as an output device. Confirm that the volume is up via the volume slider.

If the above doesn't resolve it, next go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.app and make sure that your output device is selected.
