IPad coonectivity with a new Router

Hi,

I’ve recently had a new Router installed at home and it seems that it requires a possible minimum IOS 12 to allow me connect to the wifi. ( an iPhone wouldn’t connect with iOS 11, but can at IOS 12.5) This has resulted in 3 iPads losing ability to connect to the internet as they only have IOS 9.3 as the latest software . Any ideas?

This support page will describe Apples recommended settings for WiFi Routers:

It is possible that your some of your devices may be too old to use some of the most recent security features or protocols - that may be enabled by default on your new Router. You may need to change your WiFi Router to use less secure settings.

Whilst WPA3 is the newest standard, you should aim to use WPA2 (AES-PSK) as a minimum - as this will be supported by most (if not all) models of iPad.
