No, the MBP doesn't have any sort of video input method. And even if you could, you would not be in any way happy with the results.

The EyeTV Hybrid does not support HD or widescreen input from anything other than digital cable or antenna broadcasts, so the quality from a game console would indeed be affected. See this article on Elgato's website for more info.

I don't know about the newer EyeTV Hybrid or the Hauppauge, but I've tried this with the EyeTV 250 (a slightly older model) and it also introduces a second or two of lag, even in the EyeTV's "game mode".

Hi
I attempted to use my imac to display my xbox 360 using elgatos eye tv hybrid since it was advertised as being designed to do exactly this.

As the previous poster mentions, there is indeed a noticable lag. Elgato support claimed that (even though initially claiming there was no lag) that it was milliseconds and therefore negligable.

I can tell you that it makes a difference to the control of the game. You will overshoot your aiming and the controlls will feel jelly like to a degree.

For me it was far from a suitable option (unfortunately) and i got a refund from the applestore and instead purchased a monitor for gaming.

hmm thats interesting because i don't experience any of those problems that you guys are mentioning except the part about it being hd but i don't car about that and the issue regarding the lag there is a way to fix that i have the same brand as the one in the the youtube video that i posted with my last post it tells you everything you need to know i have been using the eyetv hybrid for 3 weeks now almost every day and play on live regularly so like i said if you just go and look at the link in my last post it will answer your questions i DO NOT EXPERIENCE ANY LAG WITH THE BRAND USED IT THE YOUTUBE VIDEO there is a way to fix that issue if you have any questions on how to fix the lag i would be happy to answer your questions this is a great device to use and it works great for me 🙂
